Ep #35: ‘Tis The Season of Combating Colds & Marketing Books
We welcomed two very different guests who each have plenty to offer during this unusual holiday season.
First, Oliver Baker from Hydralyte taught us about hydration. Yes, it’s something we most typically think about during the summer, but did you know that 75% of American are dehydrated on any given day of the year, especially in the winter? Our body’s health in many, many ways depends on getting enough water – including our immune system.
We learned though that it’s not enough to just drink more water! There are many factors that go into getting and staying hydrated, and staying healthy during this critical cold/flu and pandemic season.
Next, we shifted gears into our more creative side and welcomed back Laurence O’Bryan for Part 2 of our 3 part series on being successful as an author. This discussion focused specifically on marketing. Laurence has been making a living as an author for quite some time and offered invaluable insight into what it takes, and the top 3 steps for new authors to create the success they want.
We learned that selling books is far more about consistency over time, and far less about needing a huge launch – which is a big shift from years past. We discussed other changes that have been happening in the publishing industry, how that impacts authors, and so much more!
Did you know, for example, that some of the greatest pieces of American literature were written during the Spanish Flu pandemic? It got us excited about the new books that will be coming over the next couple of years as a result of lockdowns this year!
